The school (Part 1)
The school of TemperanceOne of things that I hate about being born into a somewhat well-todo family is that you are not taught to be strong. You are taught instead to just live as many days as you can - that you have to "survive". And because your resources are really limited, you do not have the means to fully achieve your goals. Because of this, your competence is curtailed, your future compromised, and your self-esteem damaged. In short, the product of your mentality is a half-baked life.
The person who lives in temperance is the type who saves for a rainy day. Industrious, hardworking, straightly got their ducks in a row. For them, extragavance is sacrilege. They live a moderate life. They do think about the future, but they don't think big. The are afraid to take risks and stay in their comfort zone all their lives. Although they don't fear death, they always live their life with eternal regret of the things they didn't get to do because they were too chicken to do it or because society dictated that something was bad.
From the observation of living following this philosophy, it all boils down to one thing - you don't get to live your life fully.
I was once a member of that school. I left that school almost 9 years ago.
Looking at life as it is now, compared to being in "that" school, I can see the big difference in the quality of life that living your life in an attitude of temperance compared to that of the other school.
The other school I will discuss in another post.
