The School (Part 2)

The school of Extragavance

I cannot think of an example for the second school other than that of the "rich dad's son" in "rich dad, poor dad". (yeah here we go again, another one of those false-hope books). Imagine being born into a wealthy family. You have mostly everything you need, plus most of what you want. And if that wasn't good enough, you have the best quality of what you need and want. Wherelse would you want to be? Because of this providence, you are not taught the value of hardwork AS MUCH AS well-to-do people do, and when hardships set in, all you do is complain.

You live each day of your life without worrying where your future will take you, because your parents can pay for your tuition fee as many times as you can fail your subjects (yeap, be an immortal student why don't you). When you graduate, your job is prepared for you by , then you work your ass off for a morsel of a thing called salary (because the allowance your parents give you is even bigger). You easily get yourself a girl, after all, you have the means to maintain a relationship. As you continue working you are eventually promoted to the VP, or the boss of your company because after all, you are a relative of the owner (screw nepotism!).

And unlike the other school, having a girlfriend isn't a problem either. All the more a boyfriend - they must be lining up in your phonebook like a menu. Eventually your relationship will grow to fruition, and you will be married. Oh, wait - you don't have to pay for your wedding, mommy and daddy will cover it as well. And you won't have to worry about housing - your parents just gave you a house as a wedding gift. So on and so forth.. there you have it - a life well-lived.

[ for the slow, my sarcasm mode has been set to ON since the start of this post ]

Putting the joke aside.. I think the second school's description is somewhat general but it is true. There are people who are born into this school. Not that I envy them. I don't. There's just something about the whole setup that I don't like. It's probably the fact that you don't need to work to hard to get something - yeah, that's probably it.

Which is why I don't like this school as well..

A privileged life ain't always what it seems. And I gotta hand it to that rapper who said 'Mo money, mo problems'. So true. Just look at my boss....he has everything, but then again, he fears for his life; for his safety.

Makes me realize then that I am far better off than these rich kids. At least I can go places without the fear of being mauled or something.

And besides, at least I know for sure that people won't be thinking that I am where am at just because of my parents, but rather, because I've earned whatever's mine through hard work =)
